Leading fine jeweller Ortaea took part in the fund raising auction at the 11th annual amfAR Gala Milano.
Model Lottie Moss presented Ortaea's auction piece, an exquisite 18KT white gold and diamond cuff, which heralds from their Maji collection, named after the Swahili word for water.
The star-studded Gala was held in the Palazzo Mezzanotte in conjuction with Milan Fashion week. Fedreico Marchetti, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of YOOX NET-A-PORTER Group, was the evening's honouree. Carine Roitfeld presented him with amfAR's Award of Courage. The event featured a cocktail reception, dinner, the live auction, and a special performance by international artist Rita Ora. All proceeds from the auction will go towards the vital support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education and advocacy. Since 1985, amfAR has invested nearly $550 million in it programmes and has awarded more than 3,300 grants to research teams worldwide.
For Kenyan Creative Director Mita Vohra and Co-Founder Pravir Vohra, an Italian national, the event was particularly significant. Havnig their roots in Africa, they are very passionate about making their own contribution to amfAR's lifesaving research to helping end the global AIDS epidemic through research made possible through the funds raised from the auction.
Pravir Vohra adds: “Water for me represents the life force. It is an honour to be in Milan supporting a cause that strives to end the threat of Aids particularly with the pandemic in Africa which is just much my home as Italy is.”
