Europe’s leading art fair dedicated to Contemporary African Art will return to London for its third edition on 15-18 October 2015.
Fresh from a successful New York debut earlier this year, 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair resumes its annual platform at London’s Somerset House to unveil its biggest showcase yet. Thirty seven exhibitors will present works of over 150 contemporary African artists.
A reference to fifty-four countries that constitute the African continent, 1:54 showcases the highest quality African art, bringing together galleries, curators, artists, art centres and museums both from Africa and working with Africa-related projects to promote art by established and emerging talent to an international audience. The show will be accompanied by lectures, film screenings and panel debates featuring leading international curators, artists and art experts.
Taking place during the 13th edition of contemporary art fair Frieze London, 1:54 builds on the burgeoning popularity of contemporary African art and presents a rare opportunity to explore the rapidly emerging African art market and acquire works in an environment supported by some of the most influential people and organisations in the art world. From painting to sculpture and photography, the fair presents visual African art in its many forms, giving collectors, art enthusiasts and culture seekers the chance to experience and engage with African art at the very highest level.
