Taking inspiration from the performance of previous models, Automobili Lamborghini is celebrating the fun of four-wheelers with its latest concept car: the Huracán Sterrato.
Blending the sporty performance of the V10 Huracán with the off-road prowess of the Urus Super SUV, the Huracán Sterrato is calibrated for off-road driving, boasting modified suspension and torque vectoring the ensure ideal driving dynamics in a range of environments.
Commanding attention, the model is fit with 20-inch wheels on balloon tires in order to improve grip on the ground, while aluminium underbody reinforcements and body protection (including a rear skid plate which acts as a diffuser, stone-deflecting protection around the engine and mud guards) ensure optimum performance while reiterating the sheer power of the Huracán Sterrato.
The interior also includes a lightweight titanium roll cage, carbon bi-shell sports seats and aluminum floor panels, while the off-road LED light package offers a roof-mounted LED light bar and LED bumper lights with flood function.
“The Huracán Sterrato illustrates Lamborghini’s commitment to being a future shaper: a super sports car with off-road capabilities, the Sterrato demonstrates the Huracán’s versatility and opens the door to yet another benchmark of driving emotion and performance,” said Maurizio Reggiani, chief technical officer of Automobili Lamborghini.
“Lamborghini’s R&D and design teams are constantly exploring new opportunities and delivering the unexpected as a core characteristic of our DNA, challenging possibilities while inspired by Lamborghini brand heritage,” he continued.
However, this is not the first time Lamborghini have explored the potential for combining high performance and off-road capabilities - the company’s test driver Bob Wallace modified models to create desert-going high performance sports cars, the 1973 Jarama Rally and the 1974 Urraco Rally.
