ed eastWorking alongside Boca do Lobo, interior designer Brendan Wong has endeavoured to create the ideal elegant summer home, known as East House.

Using the classic exterior a grand Victorian house as his canvas, the designer opted to bring life to the building’s long-standing cast-iron lacework, verandahs and central arched entrance, as well as a tower which would once have led to a widow’s walk.

Speaking of the project, Brendan, who has more than 20 years of design experience under his belt, said, “[The clients] wanted modern elegance with warmth, but not too uptight.”

“The intention was to create a strong first impression. Then, they wanted the finest details, new textures and finishes to be revealed gradually, rather than be completely obvious,” he continued.

The end result is an elegant blend of neutral colours with bold flourishes of green emerald. Bursting with flair, Boca do Lobo’s limited edition Diamond Emerald Sideboard commands attention when perusing through the house’s wide entrance hallway. Boasting a unique, faceted design and mirror-esque reflective finish, the sideboard is a stark contrast against the black Japan floorboards and original cedar staircase. Topped off with old and silver leaves, Boca do Lobo's sideboard is also sold in a chocolate brown shade, while other custom colours and sizes are available with an upcharge.

Likewise, silk rugs and velvet upholstery provides a touch of luxury to the living room, with a shagreen coffee table and custom-made contemporary mirrors over the mantle pieces adding an edgy element to the otherwise relaxing space.

Upstairs, a sizable master bedroom has been brought to life with graduated drapery, with microdot-printed wallpaper creating a stippled effect.
