'Africa Now', an auction showcasing contemporary and modern art from Africa, hosted a preview of the collection at Bonhams, London 4 October
The event was held in partnership with Aliko Dangote's Dangote Foundation and sisters Temi and Cuppy Otedola. It welcomed a number of special guests including Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola and British musician Tinie Tempah was also present.
Presenting works from fifteen countries, Bonhams will be offering its second auction solely dedicated to contemporary African art. This includes works from renowned artists William Kentridge (South Africa, b.1955), El Anatsui (Ghana, b. 1944), Yinka Shonibare MBE (British Nigerian, b.1962) and Meschac Gaba (Benin, b.1961).
The event highlighted Dangote Foundation's charitable work in Nigeria and across the rest of Africa, which was followed by a fashion presentation organised by Temi. The evening ended with a set by international DJ, Cuppy.
Leading up to the event a Dangote Foundation spokesman stated, “We are delighted to be taking part in this exciting evening and to be able to present our important charitable work in Africa.”
