The value of African art has risen 200 per cent over the last four years.

Art auctioneers and valuers Bonhams are providing the opportunity to sell fine art in London for pound sterling.
According to Giles Peppiatt, Bonham’s director of African Art, the modern African artists we should keep an eye out for are EL Anatsui, Ben Enwonwu and William Kentridge, who he expects to see their artwork to continue to rise in value.
“In my opinion the art-market in SA is on the verge of being the key springboard for the larger African market. There has been such growth in contemporary African art, both from South Africa and further North, and South Africa deserves to be at the forefront of this market,” said Peppiatt.
Bonhams London has set global record prices for all the major African and South African artists,  including Irma Stern's 'Arab Priest' which sold for £3.1 million and Vladimir Tretchikoff's 'Chinese Girl' which sold for £980,000.
