ed jagawJaguar’s latest motoring triumph, the I-PACE, has taken home a triad of awards at the International Engine and Powertrain of the Year Awards 2019, including Best Electric Powertrain, Best New Engine, and the 350 to 450PS category.

Taking place in the German City of Stuttgart, the International Engine and Powertrain of the Year Awards 2019 saw a panel of 70 motoring journalists from 31 countries assess the best and brightest feats of on-road transport, taking into account key characteristics such as performance, driveability, energy efficiency and refinement.

Winning these awards has cemented the unrivaled efficiency of the Jaguar I-PACE’s zero-emission powertrain (which was specifically designed in-house for the model), as well as its battery pre-conditioning system, which automatically raises or lowers the temperature of its 90kWh Lithium-ion battery in order to maximise range. The car is also fit with two light, electric motors which allows the model to boast a low centre of gravity and perfectly symmetrical weight distribution for a speedy and seamless driving experience.

“We’ve used all the benefits of state-of-the-art battery and motor technology to create a world-class electric vehicle,” remarked Ian Hoban, powertrain director at Jaguar Land Rover.

“As well as zero emissions, the all-electric powertrain delivers an ideal balance of performance, refinement and range, together with outstanding responsiveness, agility and day-to-day usability. I-PACE is a true driver’s car, and above all a true Jaguar. We set out to make the world’s best all-electric performance SUV: these awards reflect that, and are fitting recognition for what the engineering team has achieved,” he continued.

This marks the model’s 66th global award since its inception last year, with titles including 2019 World Car of the Year, World Car Design of the Year, World Green Car, European Car of the Year, and German, Norwegian and UK Car of the Year.
